Hello everyone! My name is Niamh Tobin, I am 27 years old and I come from Cork in Ireland. I am really excited to join the Imagine team and I look forward to meeting you all, and your children, online and later at the preschool.

I first discovered my love of spending time with children and helping them to develop when I started volunteering with a special needs summer camp when I was 15 years old and continued until I was 18. This camp focused on providing a fun and engaging environment where children with all different kinds of needs could feel at home and safe. I always looked forward to those summers and found myself fascinated by child development. Due to this, I decided to study a BSc in Psychology at the University of Limerick in Ireland and continued volunteering to tutor in disadvantaged schools in the area.

My time studying made me even more enthusiastic about child psychology and educational psychology. I decided to move to China to broaden my horizons and travel while also getting to do something that I loved; working with young learners. From the moment I began teaching I loved it. I have lived in China for 5 years now, first in Hunan province, then Fujian province and after that Beijing, where I have been living for 3 years now. During my time in China I have worked in a number of different schools, teaching all ages from middle school right down to kindergarten. I love working with students of all ages but kindergarten is undoubtedly the ideal age group for me.

I find working with young learners to be wonderfully rewarding and I feel honored to have the opportunity to guide and observe young children as they grow and develop into excellent people. I know that children’s experiences and interactions at this vital time of development are essential to their educational and emotional growth and I do not take that responsibility lightly.

我第一次发现我喜欢和孩子们在一起，是当我15岁的时候，我开始在一个特殊需求的夏令营做志愿者，并一直持续到18岁的时候，我的任务就是帮助他们成长。这个夏令营的重点是提供一个有趣和激励的环境，让有各种不同需求的孩子可以在这里感到宾至如归的安全感。我总是很期待那些夏天，我发现自己被孩子的成长所吸引。因此，我决定在爱尔兰利默里克大学学习心理学学士学位，并继续在该地区的残障儿童学校担任导师。

学习的时间让我对儿童心理学和教育心理学更加热情。我决定搬到中国去，开阔视野，旅行，同时做一些我喜欢的事情：和孩子们一起工作。从我开始教书的那一刻起，我就爱上了它。我已经在中国生活了5年，先是在湖南，然后是福建，然后是北京，我已经在那里生活了3年。在中国期间，我曾在不同的学校工作，从中学到幼儿园，教授所有年龄段的学生。我喜欢和各个年龄段的学生一起工作，但幼儿园无疑是我理想的年龄群体。

我发现和年轻的学习者一起工作是非常值得的，我很荣幸有机会指导和观察孩子们成长和成长为优秀的人。我知道孩子们在这个重要的发展时期的经历和互动对他们的教育和情感成长是至关重要的，我不会掉以轻心。
